The story ‘Rikki-Tikki-Tavi’ by Rudyard Kipling is a story of a mongoose who washed out of his house in a burrow in summer flood adopted by a family of humans and ‘The Elephant and the Cassowary’ by Ruskin Bond is a story of two mismatched animals are both entertaining and hilarious. The story ‘Hunting with a Camera’ by F.W. Champion is his account of shooting a tigress through the camera lens and ‘The Tiger and the Terrier’ by Brig. General R.G. Burton comes from a military cantonment are fascinating and exhilarating.

The stories are delightful and entertaining and the narrations are full of adventure and nail-biting situations. It’s not every day that we can go into the jungle and experience the call of the birds, warning cries of the monkeys and sudden stillness that could stop the running of blood. This book brings to your home wild beasts, rare birds, hilarious and frightening episodes of the jungle and home.

Author Bio

Ruskin Bond has been writing for over sixty years, now has over 120 titles in print – novels, collections of short stories, poetry, essays, anthologies and books for children. His first novel, ‘The Room on the Roof’ received the prestigious John Llewellyn Rhys Prize in 1957. He has also received the Padma Shri (1999), The Padma Bhushan (2014) and two awards from Sahitya Akademi – one for his short stories and another for his writings for children. In 2012, the Delhi government gave him its Lifetime Achievement Award.
