A small kid, his world of fairy tales and fantasy. The world where there is no sorrow, no pain, only beautiful things and tales of love and happiness. What happens when the illusionary world break loose and he came to know there is no such place as in Rafflesia – The Banished Princess.

Apurva Sharma, fondly known as Appu was a small kid when he comes across a fantasy book Rafflesia – The Banished Princess. A mystical and alluring tale of a princess gifted by his childhood friend Pinky before bidding the last goodbye to Appu to shift in a new city for good. He became fond of the tale and the book and started to believe it true. He came to know the harsh reality of the real world much later in his life.

The protagonist is a simple and innocent boy who doesn’t harm and cannot hate anyone. No matter how bad they did to them, this could be understood by an incident in his life after he get married and he let go without keeping any grudge behind in his heart.

When you come across the book, the name and the book cover suggests it a fantasy book of a tale of a princess and her struggle and ordeals, but it is not. The book is a story of Appu and his tribulations. Rafflesia – The Banished Princess is his favorite book and he keeps a good collection of the same book but in different languages and editions. He is loved by everyone and dear to all. Whoever comes across him feels an obligation to protect him from the rude and unruly world and keep intact his goodness.

The character of Appu is lovable, righteous, and earthly. He believes in the good of the world. The story is simple and relatable. You can find yourself in the character of Appu and hardships and challenges he faces. The way he lives his childhood in the world of fairy tales and fantasy. We all were like him in our childhood. The book is a joy ride and a good read.
